19th/ 20th November Weekend race reports

Just over the border into Gloucestershire there is a small friendly running club The Newent Runners. Once a year they host their Newent 9 road race, This year the race was a sell out with 300 runners taking part. Starting at 11.00am from Newent Community School. The 9k route winds up through the town then into quiet lanes up towards Mayhill. It runs past the Bird of Prey Centre and up to the highest point at 3km before the decent back down and into the town. A very scenic run with great views, it culminated with a beautiful, newly designed, bespoke medal and gift for all finishers
Ian Walwyn successfuly defended his male vet 60 age category and Julie Caseley won the FV50 age category. Nic Daucey was first Malvern Jogger to finish in a time of 42:51 followed by Ian Walwyn (45:01), Julie Caseley (48:04), Alison Priest (48:31) and Andrew Brown (48:56).

Jet setters Steve Roode and Megz Judge swapped the sunshine of the south of France last week for the Skegness 10k this week Megz said “Skegness 10k, I did 42.27 second lady and Roodie did 50.15 mins. Very windy and freezing cold but both happy with times”

Mike Bolton was heading down Herbert’s Hole, Chiltern Harriers 10K In challenging weather, he attacked the uphill start. he said “Got up there surprising easily and quickly, once I got my breath back was able to ride the undulations we some level of enjoyment. Herbert’s Hole is well worth a visit, more enjoyable than I expected finishing in 52:22 74th out of 275 ”

The Broadway Half Marathon offered runners the opportunity to challenge themselves and each other amid the stunning scenery of the northern Cotswolds. Starting and finishing in scenic Broadway village, the route followed trails and roads among picturesque villages, woodlands, and, most importantly, hills. The majority of the course was trail or unpaved track. Lynda Broaway Mike Anstey did this one and were joined by Emma Scott who was competing for the Malvern Joggers for the 1st time she was christened “Queen of the down hill” after a stirling performance Mike Anstey 2h 34 Emma Scott 2h 38 Lynda Broadway 2h 40
Matt Lancett was racing the Malvern View 10k a undulating run finishing 8th in 42 minutes

Jon Bryan was back for round 3 of the Winter Warrior Series at the beautiful Forestry Commission site in the Wyre Forest, near Bewdley, Worcestershire.A 10.6km off-road running route took runners from the visitor centre at Callow Hill, and follow fire road tracks and woodland, before heading back to finish back at the visitor centre. Finishing in 57:20
