Dear Malvern Joggers,,
I am writing to introduce ARCOS, a voluntary organisation based in Malvern and to ask if any of your members or associates would be interested to run in the 2016 London marathon.
ARCOS exists to help improve life for children and adults with communication and or swallowing difficulties. It is a voluntary organisation, registered as a charity in 1992. We work with individuals who have various disabilities, for example cerebral palsy, stroke, head injury or progressive conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease and motor neurone disease, with their families and others involved. Three years ago, pump priming funding from the BBC Children in Need Appeal enabled us to establish SMILE a stay and play facility for children, which is proving a popular resource for children including those on the autistic spectrum.
London marathon 2016: We have won an unexpected wildcard place! Our scheduled next opportunity was to have been 2017 but Cath our fundraiser entered ARCOS into the raffle and we now have a place in the 2016 event-and we want to make the most of it.
We would love our runner to be from the local area, sympathetic to the work we do – and we would be very pleased to welcome any members of Malvern Joggers who would like to visit ARCOS at Hatherton Lodge-rather than only passing by as I think your group does, in admirable fashion.
Do get in touch, I look forward to hearing from you.
