Four Malvern Joggers went ‘on tour’ to Barcelona for the half marathon which took place on 15 February 2015.
The Barcelona Half Marathon route is a flat, fast course that takes in many of the City’s sights. It can best be described as a figure of 8, which is great for spectators and supporters. Starting at8:45am meant the weather was still cool but sunny and the first 10 miles of the course were along many of the city’s wide boulevards with shade from tall buildings. The race starts from near Barcelonetta, heading up towards Plaza Espana, and then back down the wide boulevard that is Diagonal, before the final 2 miles along the coast road, with the finish in the city centre by the Arc de Triomf. Runners and spectators alike were entertained by several live bands along the route. All participants received a technical t-shirt and race medal.
