Bluebell Blunder 10k – 30 April 2016

This was a very friendly, well marshalled and organised race by Rogue Runs with 117 finishers.

This was a single loop race that started at Bigsweir Bridge in the beautiful Wye Valley near Monmouth. This off-road 10k took in some wonderful woodland at the bluebell time of year.

After starting with a mile climb to the open fields of Wyegate Hill, there followed a series of pleasant descents on varied terrain, northwards to Highbury Farm overlooking Redbook, taking in some stunning views. The course then returned south through land owned by the Woodland Trust and Natural England. Then, after crossing the route out, we were into fields prior to the best part of the course as far as bluebells were concerned – here we encounted a carpet of blue. Then there was a last incline before a fast descent to the finish where very welcome tea and cake were awaiting us.

Malvern Joggers were led home by Julie Caseley in a time of 1:05:35, followed by Mike Anstey (1:09:02), Chris Jolley (1:14:13) and Lynda Broadway (1:19:05).
