Following overnight rain and a cloud burst 10 minutes before the start of the race, conditions were ideal for the running of this annual event. Competitors came from all around the Midlands to take part and all received a commemorative bottle opener and a bottle of cider, courtesy of Bulmers. A donation of £100 to The Midlands Air Ambulance was made out of the proceeds of the race.
13 Malvern Joggers competed in this Champions League race organised by Worcester Athletic Club. This was a tough, undulating 6.4 mile off-road course through the Bulmer’s orchards at Wichenford.
First Jogger home was Matthew Lancett in a time of 46:31 followed by Nic Dauncey (48:51), Ben Toon (50:15), Steve Roode (51:18), Mike Bolton (52:53), Megan Judge (53:27), Ian Walwyn (53:49), Julie Caseley (55:16 – 1st FV55), Kareen Mann (55:55), Alison Priest (57:01 – 1st FV45), Steve Ollis (58:57), Mark Dillon (1:01:12) and Gerry Taggart (1:09:11). Julie and Alison were awarded engraved silver salvers for winning their age categories.
