Herefordshire Summer Cross Country series – 26 July 2017

The last race of the Herefordshire Summer Cross Country series, held in the magnificent surroundings of Shobdon Court, escaped the showers and attracted a near record field of 178 runners.  Despite the great surroundings and pleasant weather, it’s a tough course, with lots of changes in terrain and gradients, until the final stages where there was the long climb up between the wood and the field, and then the long grassy avenue down to the finish/end of lap 1.

Malvern Joggers were well represented by Nic Dauncey finishing in a time of 35:19, Matthew Lancett (37:57), Adam Grant (38:47), Sam Eden (39:40), Natalie Bennett (40:08), Martin Reed-Darby (40:53), Paul Newman (44:19), Roger Sherriff (44:25), Roy Hart (46:12), Rhian Protheroe (47:16), Amanda Duncan (48:09), Julie Caseley (48:13), Andy Campbell (50:07), Helen Ried (52:24), Viv Tolley (52:53) and Dave Brett (53:46).

Well done to Natalie Bennett and Julie Caseley who won a gold medal (FV35) and silver medal (FV55) respectively for the race series.

26th Hook Fun Run and Road Races in Hampshire

It was a lovely, warm day for the 26th Hook Fun Run and Road Races in Hampshire with a record 1250 finishers over all the races. The race HQ was at the Community Centre at Hartletts Park in the heart of Hook. The event incorporated children’s races as well as 10k and 10 mile road runs and was organised by and for the community, raising money for local charities and community organisations.

I ran the 10 mile undulating race which was a lap of the park and the town of Hook before the course went along the Reading Road north to the rural village of Rotherwick. The route then turned south towards Newnham and then onto the A30 London Road, through the centre of Hook before entering Hartletts Park to the finish. I finished in a time of 1:23:31.

Scottish Half Marathon + 10K 2017

And It’s PB o’clock!

With Spring now upon us, club runners will no doubt be looking ahead and planning their race schedule, from 5ks to full marathons and everything in between. But if there’s one event that should be confidently ‘sharpied’ into the 2017 calendar, it’s the Scottish Half Marathon + 10K, taking place on Sunday 24th September.

Whoooshhh!

Be warned, both routes are seriously fast & flat, offering genuine PB potential. Runners will take in the picturesque East Lothian coastline before finishing in the final furlong at Musselburgh Racecourse.
