This was the inaugural running of Dills Dash, a 7 mile race around the lanes and scenic countryside of Fernhill Heath in Worcester, set up to raise funds for The Alzheimers Society. The race HQ was at the County Sports Playing Fields where the event started and finished and was run mainly on undulating roads, incorporating the dreaded Jacob’s Ladder within the first 2 miles, and canal towpaths.
Malvern Joggers were keen to support this very worthwhile cause and were well represented. First Jogger home was Matt Scriven in a time of 43:06 (4th overall and 1st MV40) followed by Jon Newey (43:16), Nic Dauncey (48:12), Adam Grant (50:31), Andy Milton (52:52), Steve Roode (55:02), Ian Walwyn (55:37 – 1st MV60), Mark Hartland (55:47), Ian Dyson (56:26), Kareen Mann (57:16 – 1st FV55), Alison Priest (58:33), Amanda Duncan (1:00:09), Jason Protheroe (1:01:23), Julie Caseley (1:03:22), Patricia Johnson (1:08:41), Chris Barker (1:08:43), Helen Reid (1:10:25), Rhian Protheroe (1:11:39), Vivien Tolley (1:11:39) and Megan Judge (1:13:23).
This was the 22nd anniversary of the Pitchcroft 10k incorporating the Worcestershire County 10k Road Championships. It is a fast, flat, three lap course run on traffic free perimeter surfaced tracks and footpaths. The start and finish was at the end of the paddock close to the finish which was in front of the Grandstand.
The winner was Ian Radford from Black Pear Joggers in a time of 33:56 while two Malvern Joggers competed with Suzie Lane finishing in a time of 50:41 and Julie Caseley 52:45 winning a silver salver for first FV55 and also winning a silver medal in the FV50-59 age category in the County 10k Road Championship.
Our 10K has now been confirmed as the WAAA Championship for 2017. I have
attached a copy of the entry form for you and Malvern Joggers info. Chris Croswell.
MJs might like to find themselves on my video.
The race is largely on a tarmac path within the boundaries of Worcester Racecourse alongside the River Severn with just a very short stretch on pavement bordering the Racecourse. The flat three lap 10K course has huge PB potential and with Worcestershire County Championship status we are expecting a good pace to be set throughout the race. Entries will be allowed on the day subject to the 300 race limit being reached. Please note that there is ample parking in the centre of Pitchcroft racecourse just yards from the start / finish / presentation area. Looking forward to seeing your club competing on the day!

For anyone interested in fell running the County is using the Wrekin Fell Race on 20th March as a selection event for teams for the Inter Counties Fell Running Championship in North Wales on 14th May. it is a pity that the dates clash. Anyone interested can register their interest with Lucy Cambridge on firstname.lastname@example.org as she is looking after the fell running side of the sport.
