Darrens Dash Hill Race – 17 June 2017

Nic Dauncey and I competed in the 12th and final Darrens Dash Hill Race organised by Wye Valley Runners which took place from Longtown, Herefordshire close to the border with Wales on the hottest day of the year so far. This tough event took runners through a farm and up a grassy 2 mile steep incline to the track that led to the top of the Offa’s Dyke Path, then briefly into Wales for 2 miles before returning back along the same paths to Longtown and the finish. The 2017 course followed the same course as 2015/16 and included a 570m elevation gain over 5.6 miles. It is a charity event whose proceeds are split between Longtown Mountain Rescue Team, Longtown Pre-School and Longtown Primary School.

Nic Dauncey was 11th and finished in a time of 55:18 and Julie Caseley was 3rd female, winning a trophy, in a time of 1:04:23.
