This was the 30th anniversary year of the Gosport Half Marathon. The race was professionally organised and marshalled by members of the Gosport Road Runners together with the local Cadet Troops. After a minutes’ silence to remember to dead and injured of the Paris bomb attacks on Friday, the race was started by the Mayor of Gosport. The route itself was out along the south coast on road/footpaths from Gosport with a turnaround back along the promenade in very blustery, wild conditions, which then had to be done all over again as this was a 2 lap course. Thanks must go to the enthusiastic marshals as well as the ‘Big Noise Samba Band’ who played tirelessly throughout.
All finishers received a goody bag and bespoke medal celebrating the 30th anniversary of the race. I finished in a time of1:50:46 and was 2nd in my age category (FV55-59) receiving a £35 Argos voucher. Julie
