Isle of Wight Half Marathon – 16 August 2015

This was the 31st anniversary of the Isle of Wight Half Marathon
organised by Ryde Harriers. The start and race registration was at Ryde
Rowing Club and the finish was a short walk away in Appley Park. This
was a new course for this year to avoid some main roads, incorporating 2
small laps and one larger lap, 1.5 miles of which was run over gravel
tracks. This scenic course was undulating/hilly and because of the
nature of the laps, the hills had to be negotiated more than once.

All 376 finishers received a bespoke medal. I finished in a time of
1:55:24, 2nd female vet 55 and winning a £10 Tesco gift card. Simon
Battson, a relatively new runner with Malvern Joggers was also
competing, and finished in an excellent time of 1:44:55. Julie

8 runners were disqualified for
running with headphones, which is against UK Athletics rules.Simon and Julie Isle of wight
