Summary: There is a new start and finish this year near Little Malvern Priory about 5 minutes’ walk from the race HQ at Watery Lane. The course is multi-terrain - mostly hard tracks with some road but there are long stretches across fields and uneven ground. Depending on the weather, it may be boggy and wet in places. There will be a water station at the halfway point and also at the finish of the race.
Detail: The start and finish of the race is in the field just below Malvern Priory. The course is multi-terrain - mostly hard tracks and tarmac but there are long stretches across fields and uneven ground. Depending on the weather, it may be boggy and wet in places. There will be over 25 marshals on the route and it is well signed, including warning notices for traffic. All the road sections that we are using will be open to traffic, although there should be very few vehicles on these common roads.
The race starts on the field below Little Malvern Priory The route then follows the field boundaries through a series of gates before joining a track just past Malvern Court. The track undulates for a short distance to Underhills Farm. After the farm there is an uphill climb of 0.3 of a mile to the Nook. After this the route continues by track and then across open ground for 0.7 mile to the Swinyard car park. The route then turns right and heads uphill to Gullet quarry (the highest point of the course), before turning back through the trees and then downhill for 0.4 mile on the tarmac road across the common. At a crossroads the route turns left to pick up a lesser road/track back uphill towards The Nook ( ½ way drinks station). After this the route follows the line of the Worcestershire Way link and heads downhill across fields and rough track for 1 mile before reaching open common. There is then a run across the common for about a mile before joining Hancocks Lane. The route continues along the tarmac lane for about ¾ mile before turning off the road onto a track to pass beside Millbrook cottage. It then passes along a path through a field to head uphill and back towards the finish at Little Malvern Priory
