Riverbank Rollick 9 miles, Thornbury – 15 January 201

The Riverbank Rollick 9 mile race took place at Thornbury in lovely South Gloucestershire countryside and is organised by Thornbury Running Club.  It is a multi-terrain race on trails, bridle paths, across fields and through woodland with 120m of ascent.  3.5 miles after the start, the course runs parallel to the River Severn estuary for 1.5 miles past Whale Wharf with views of the Severn Bridge and Chepstow before returning via Littleton-upon-Severn concluding with an obligatory 100m run along the length of a stream to finish.  The race was full in advance of the race with 353 runners finishing this very wet and muddy course.

Chip timing was introduced for accuracy and efficient results together with the first of three very special bespoke set of medals for runners who complete this and the two other races the Club organises later in the year.  Part of the entry fee to the race was donated to the Club’s annual charity, Great Western Air Ambulance.
