My name is Marion McLaverty and I am the poppy appeal organiser for Malvern town centre. For the past three years in June the above event has taken place in Malvern.
William Coltman was a stretcher bearer in WW1 and received the VC and also a number of other distinguished medals which carried through, indeed, to WWII.
Groups of sponsored military teams carry a stretcher with the weight of a body from Malvern library to the Hills. This year is longer and will finish at British Camp.
The event takes place on Saturday 20 June starting at 11. We are in need of a goodly number of volunteers to act as marshalls along the route. Last year we had no problem finding such as the route was circular and shorter. This year it is proving much more of a challenge in itself
Volunteers will need to gather at the library at 10 for instruction and to be given their position on the hills.
If you need any further information on this RBL Honour Walk I will be happy to talk to you. You can call me on 01684 301788 and leave a message if I am not there and I will call you back
In the meantime, you can find out more about this outstanding man by doing an Internet search on William Coltman VC. The VC narrows the search right down.
I hope to hear from you.
