Shobdon Wood Race – 15 May 2016

The Shobdon Wood race is approximately 9km and is a completely off-road event organised by Croft Ambrey Running Club. It took place in Shobdon Woods along well marked forestry tracks and footpaths, just one mile north of the Herefordshire village of Shobdon, which is between Leominster and Presteigne.
The race headquarters was at the old Forestry Commission field centre. Running numbers and race T-shirts were available prior to the start of the race. The start of the race, approximately 1/4 mile walk from the race HQ, was along an uphill track. Portions of the race route were along the Mortimer Trail which included a mix of level running, together with challenging ascending and descending stretches with the descent to the finish going down a picturesque footpath through deciduous woods surrounded by bluebells. Doughnuts and refreshments were served after the race.
