This challenging, undulating race is on the same evening as the Bromsgrove Carnival and is organised by the Bromsgrove and Redditch Athletic Club and also hosts a popular children’s race prior to the main event.
The main event started at 6pm and 7 Malvern Joggers travelled to Bromsgrove for this race which formed part of our Champions League. The 10k race started from the back field of Sanders Park on closed roads and after an uphill first kilometre, the route then flowed mainly downhill for the next 3km to the end of Timberhonger Lane. There was then two 2km loops around Berry Lane and New House Lane before returning up Timberhonger Lane. There was a challenging hill at 8km but from then on it was downhill all the way to the finish which was across the back field in the main part of the park.
All profits from the race will be split between The Friends of the Princess of Wales Hospital, The Primrose Hospice and The Basement Project who help homeless people in Bromsgrove.
Malvern Joggers were led home by Henry Walker in a time of 39:10, followed by Ian Walwyn (48:02), Paul Webb (48:47), John Bryan (49:06), Mark Cooling (49:34), Julie Caseley (50:01) who received a trophy for winning her age category (FV55) , and Rachel Cashmore (53:42).
