The Waseley Wobbler, which is organised by Bromsgrove and Redditch Athletic Club, started life as the North Worcestershire Hill Race in the early 1980’s as a 15 miler extending from Waseley Hills Country Park out to the Clent Hills and back. It has since been reduced firstly to 10 miles and now to its present 8.5 mile format.
The race started and finished at Waseley Hills High School, adjacent to the Country Park. It followed a challenging and undulating but picturesque multi-terrain route around Waseley Hills Country Park before climbing through the woods towards the Lickey Hills then returning to the top of Waseley and back to the finish for a well earned medal and slice of home made cake.
The course included 4 major climbs and although it was a serious undertaking, it was suitable for runners who have completed 10k races and were looking for a new challenge.
Malvern Joggers were led home by Jon Newey in a time of 1:00:55 followed by Nic Dauncey (1:10:00), Emily Priest (1:16:43), Megan Judge (1:17:18), Ian Walwyn (1:18:15), Steve Roode (1:18:53), Julie Caseley (1:21:29), Alison Priest (1:24:57) and Mark Dillon (1:36:16).
