The now famous Christmas lights run takes place on the 18th December usual time at MSJ. This year we are planning to bring back the hot mulled wine stop off -just organising a suitable house where we can offer mulled wine and mince pies. Remember to gen up on the words of the popular carols as you will be required to sing the first verse at the houses which appear to most embrace the Christmas spirit, or have the most Christmas bling. Oh and don’t forget your elf uniforms, flashing Christmas trees and so on!
The Christmas eve run will meet at the Retired Soldier circa 1pm for a run up to the Beacon where Father Chairman Christmas will provide hot mulled wine. Father Treasurer Christmas is apparently running it this year.
Dear MJ’s you will be aware from the last AGM that Jerry Greer has wished to stand down as treasurer due to work commitments. We now have an applicant willing to undertake this role. In the spirit of fairness to all the club members there will be a two week window for any other applicants to come forward. If this is the case then an election will be held. Please email me using my club email which can be found on the home page of the Website. The closing date for applicants is the 22nd of November. Thank you. Carl

A big thank you to all the team that supported our race this year. In spite of the worst weather we have ever experienced in the 11 years we have run the race it was a successful evening. Feedback suggests that our supportive marshals brought a smile to the runners and the chilli added that extra warmth to the cold night. I think we learnt a lot from holding the race at this new location and potentially this could offer the Joggers opportunities for additional events in the future.
A bottle of Friday Beer or cider will be available free of charge to all entrants at our 10k on Wednesday 12th of June. Not only free beer but also free chilli (vegan friendly) as well.
Saturday 15th June Cost £20. Includes coach there and back, brewery tour and as much beer as you can drink! Depart Morgan at 3.15pm return circa 7.30pm. To reserve your place email email@example.com
The good news is that we have secured a new venue for our race thanks to a supportive farmer in Welland. The start and finish of the race will be near Little Malvern Priory. The race starts at 7.30pm and we are looking to increase the number of runners since we now have much more space available. More details to follow.

Circuit training started back at the Dome on the 7th and continues until the 25th of March. Don’t forget we also have also paid to use MSJ sports centre for running and the use of the showers etc on a monday evening.
The AGM is a few weeks hence on the 13th of February at Manor Park. We have organised sandwiches to tempt more folk along from 8.15pm after our club run. Claire Haynes is the only applicant for the Race Captains post. Janet has re-applied for the Kit position, ditto with Jane as secretary, Paul, Sam, Carl, Emily and Jerry have all reapplied for their committee posts. Although Jerry would still like someone to come forward and take on the treasurers role as his work commitments are very demanding at present. If you would like to know more or feel you might be interested then please see Jerry on a club night
Looking forward to meeting up. Our next Club night is Wednesday 2nd of January and our circuit training recommences on Monday 7th January 7.30pm MSJ Dome. As usual MSJ sports center is open for MJ’s on Mondays as well as our usual Wednesday evenings.
With regards to the AGM on the 13th of February Claire Haynes has applied for the Race Captains post. I plan to stand down as Chairman in 2020. Jerry Greer our treasurer has had a tough year with a new work role demanding more of his time. He would like to step down at some point and has asked if there is an MJ who would like to take on this role? He said training and a transition period would be provided.
If any MJ’s and family members would like to undertake this free training opportunity which is being run by Heartstart then please email firstname.lastname@example.org to book your place. The training will be finished by 12 noon.
As detailed previously its at Manor Park on the 13th of February. There is no charity vote as we decided on the Citizens Advice Bureau last year. However as per usual all the committee posts are up for grabs. Any post which has more than one applicant will be subject to a vote at the AGM and online.
Julie has said that after many years of service she is going to step down in 2019, so the Race Captains post will be vacant.
Thus far Janet Baker is applying for the kit organisers post. Jane Spicer is applying for the secretaries role which became vacant during the year. I intend to stand for Chairman in 2019 but would like to step down in 2020. Further details will be posted soon.
Remember to wear something in the festive spirit, sparkly lights etc as we undertake singing Christmas carols outside the houses showing the most Christmas glitz
Congratulations to everyone who was nominated and the winners of the club awards.
The Winners were:
VLM Ballot Places
Jason Protheroe and Mark Hartland
The Joggers Jogger
The Club Person of the Year
Looking back on that glorious summer with our club nights bathed in sunshine. There was one event that did not take place as planned. This was the Dream Mile on the 18th of April. We received a number of requests prior and up to the wednesday not to run it as a number of folk were running the London Marathon a few days later and did not want to risk injury. In 2019 we shall move the dream mile into May to avoid this happening again.
Just a reminder, that at the last AGM we agreed Citizens Advice Malvern was going to be our charity in 2019!
Location Manor Park sports centre
The agenda is here: http://www.malvernjoggers.co.uk/agm-agenda-7th-feb/
Here are some notes from last year:
Malvern Joggers AGM 8th February 2017
Matters arising from the meeting at Manor Park
- Emily Seyler was co-opted as a member to the committee. Her principal role is organising run leaders for club nights.
- There was discussion over the cost of after club run food. One member asked that the money be donated to charity rather than pay for food for those attending the social aspect of club nights.
- A member asked about the cost of Chip Timing at the MJ’s 10k and were there less expensive alternatives.
- LIRF training opportunities were asked about.
