MJ – Nov 23 Update

Hi Joggers, I trust you are all well, getting out and enjoying your running – remember there’s no such thing as a regretted run!

We’ve a had a few new members joining recently, so welcome guys. I’m mindful it can be a bit daunting to come along to anything new for the first time – but hopefully everyone has been kind and friendly to you and more importantly youre enjoying your running!

So what’s going on…what’s coming up….well lots!!!

Club Running Wednesday Nights from the Rugby Club – is going really well. There are other groups going out on other days and Tim has the Sunday Long Runs going again – but just ask on facebook if you’re looking for a run

Champions League 2023 has been outstanding this year with lots of members running and we look forward to celebrating the winners at the Xmas party on 15th December

Champions League for 2024 is already taking really good shape and Tim has some extra catagories for you to aim for which will be great fun

The curry night was a great success thanks to Charlottes organising & it was great to see people out of their running kit (if you know what I mean!) and have a chat!! – we will do more of these

C25K we are aiming to do one in January but we are light on helpers/leader, so if you can help, please let me know

Cross Country (XC) got off to a great start on in November at Cirencester (a tad muddy….well it is Cross Country!) and the next one is 10thDecember – We have a great mix of female & male runners in this and as much as we are not racing to win the prize (think Team Bath is all over that), we run to be together and support each other & it’s just great – so if you’re not booked in and fancy coming along, then just let me know

Who Wants to Run London Marathon 2024?

If you made an entry to the official ballot but were rejected, then you are eligible to enter into the club ballot which will be announced by the traditional duck race at the Xmas Party, and you’ll need to forward your rejection email as proof to Jamie by email by Friday 8th December

As an EA club we get 2 places allocated for London Marathon so do put your entry in if you are eligible – However, please be aware that the success rate of these places of people actually standing on the start line is only 63% nationally and in fact our record is only 50%. These 2 places are really sought after, so if you are thinking of putting yourself forward, please have a commit to run it as much as you can (subject to life, family, kids, injury, training – getting in the way!) thanks

Xmas Party Friday 15th December (whoop whoop – I love the Xmas party)– Tickets are now on sale!  – it’s always been a great night at the rugby club and a great opportunity to let your hair down, have some fun with your fellow club friends, eat, drink & be merry! – & if anyone has any “turns” (playing an instrument, singing, jokes (not you Tim!)?!) they would like to do, then do let me know!

MJs Christmas Party 2023 – Malvern Joggers

End of year Awards Entries are now live! – for me these are really important and a real indicator of the “health” of the club, so please take a moment to nominate people, but also to put a few words together why you are making your nomination. It’s a real chance to comment on your club mates; what they have achieved; how they have inspired you, etc

Club Awards Nominations 2023 (google.com)

Our Charity for 2024 – whilst we are a running club and not a charity, it really is fantastic that we can support a chosen charity each year. So for next year we will be gathering any nominations by mid December and following this by a vote which we will announce at the AGM in January  – we will post a message shortly for you to make any nominations

Club Kit

Jamie is placing an order for shirts if anyone wants one and also ordering some new designed buffs which will be available shortly (great stocking fillers…Mrs T is going to be so excited to get hers!)….and also he’s been working on getting some club jackets which we’re looking forward to ……….so watch this space

However…no one man can do this alone…not even Jamie, so he could do with some help just to help manage and organise stock, so if you could spare a bit of time then please do step up and let Jamie know

Membership  2024

England Athletics are putting their prices up to £19; an increase of £2, so in line with this we are increasing club fees to £29. I guess it’s like everything is going up – however we are not increasing the club portion of your fee and we do manage carefully our club budgets to ensure we are able to support our members with the many activities we run. Still, I would argue its fantastic value for a sport that is available 365 days a year, 24 hours a day with a club that has just the best group of people to run and socialise with – that’s YOU by the way!

An Evening with Nicky Spinks – those of you who know who she is (if not, just look her up and be inspired), we sold out the tickets in just 2 days! So it’s going to be a fantastic night, but we will need a bit of help on the night car park marshalling and registration  – to make sure the evening goes smoothly, and Nicky isn’t mobbed!

AGM 2024  – the date for our AGM is Wednesday 17 January, and we will hold this as usual at 8.15pm at The Rugby Club after the club run. If you have any questions or anything to raise, or would like to be considered for any committee roles then please let me know prior to the meeting by the end of December

….and finally, don’t forget our annual Xmas Eve run, jog, walk from Tank Quarry to the Beacon, with Mulled Wine at the top – 2pm!

Ok so that’s it for now

Thank you Joggers – as always, if you have any questions, ideas or comments then please let any of the committee know
